Born 1988 in Achim, he grew up in Hanover and is now based in Berlin. The studies of music education with major subject piano lead him to Osnabrück, where Unland was formed. After that he studied music production in Münster. He is also active in other musical projects - the instrumental Post-Rock Band Frames, his solo project Holographic Field (Ambient/Electronica) and the audiovisual project Cordial. Apart from these projects he composes music for theater and film.
Musician and producer Christian Grothe is involved in many different projects. Besides his involvement in the ambient-experimental outfit "Unland" he plays in the band of singer "Tabeah" and publishes solo under the moniker of "Kryshe". In his liveperformances he combines electronics with a broad array of acoustic instruments like guitar, piano and trumpet in addition to his voice. The results are abstract soundscapes with spacious rooms and dazzeling textures.
Shabnam Parvaresh was born in Tehran and soon discovered her talent in music. She started her career as a clarinetist playing with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. She received her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts and Painting and simultaneously pursued a career as an artist and musician in Tehran. Her desire for new challenges and the urge for an environment that leaves more individual space lead her to leave Iran in order to study Jazz-Clarinet in Germany. With Unland she aims at an complementary and experimental approach, drawing from different sources of inspirations.
